about Banin uk
Banin UK is an apolitical association of sons and daughters of Nso and their spouses living in the United Kingdom. Membership is open to all sons and daughters of Nso and their spouses even if they are not of the same origin. It shall also include those who have lived in Nso, speak lamnso and have a genuine interest in the socioeconomic and cultural development of Nso.
Our Aims and Objectives
- To bring together the sons and daughters of Nso living in the UK
- To assist each other in times of difficulties
- To uphold the cultural heritage of the Nso people
- To encourage permanent contacts with the people of Nso back home in Cameroon and also in other parts of the world.
- To support development initiatives back home by annual minimum contribution decided each year.
- To advise and encourage members to invest both in the UK and at home

Our regular meetings are quarterly each year and hosted by members who take turns at various locations around the UK.

We do have member-initiated events such as wake-keepings, births, communions etc. but our main event is our Annual Convention.
banin foundation
Banin Foundation is our charity through which we drive welfare and development efforts both in the UK and back at home within the Nso tribe. Our key project in the next few years will be the Ngai Nso Project in the UK which we believe will be a greater catalyst towards our community cohesion in the UK.
other banin activities
Banin runs a Njangi group for members who feel they can benefit from this traditional lending stream. We also run a savings scheme known as ‘Kibam Ke Ngeh’ allowing our members to save or borrow for those rainy days. Our ambition is that our children will not have to borrow from others for that first home in future. There is also a Samba group open to men known as Kifu Ke Samba Wo London, and a lady’s group known as diamond ladies catering for the specific needs of both our genders. Moreover, there are two groups for our children- Banin Kids and Banin Youths, catering for different age groups. Our kids are definitely our future and we’ve seen substantial growth in numbers over the years. Please feel free to ask if you require information about the various groups.
