“Youth is the backbone of nation-building” – Lailah Gifty Akita
nfu europe kids and youths forum
An organization that does not invest in the youth is dead going into the future. Our survey results from the past years show that one of the reasons most parents register to our local chapters or attend the convention is because they see it as a means to expose their children to our rich culture. Our gatherings are the only lens the kids use to see who we are as a community. They take note of what we are doing even when we least expect. Apart from presenting to them our culture, we can also become mentors to these kids who are always curious.
Mentoring the youth in our union is a powerful way to invest in the next generation. When done correctly, it can also change someone’s life for the better. The ripple effect is tremendous.
This platform will be a success when the youth in our union will know that apart from their parents there are also people from our community whom they can turn to for support and inspiration. Mentoring the youth in our union gives us the opportunity to put into action the motto of our union which is “wir tom wir e wir tom wir”. We are looking forward to parents to register their children to this forum as well as adults who are willing to be mentors. Long term goal is also to help the youth in our union build a network of “wanfon” around the world.
