Bongkisheri Nso Belgium (BNB) commonly refered to as “The Mother of NFU-Europe” BNB is a non-profit cultural organization, which was formed in April 1997 with the main objective of bringing all the wirfons in Belgium together to celebrate their culture. Bnb as a group successfully brought together over 70% of the wirfons living in Belgium. Since its inception BNB has had 7 presidents.
In addition to the mobilization of Nso people in Belgium, BNB has been able to acquired and display several traditional dances like the kikum, Ntoh, Longsi, Njang etc. To ensure some continuity in celebrating our culture in Belgium BNB has also encourage and taught our kids to dance the Kikum.
BNB has also done lots of humanitarian and charitable works; a few examples are supported orphans at the Shisong orphanage. BNB has sponsored the surgery of a lady in Nso who was suffering from Cataract. Members of BNB have also contributed to help the little girl whose eye was shot last year in Cameroon.
To improve the heath condition of the wives of the chiefs of Nso, BNB supplied blankets to the Chief wives in 5 major palaces in Bui. BNB is currently building oilets and bathrooms for the fon’s wives in Kumbo.The future of BNB is very promising. We are now trying to consolidate our group and continuously participate in developing and empowering ourselves and, projects back home.
The trained children of BNB who dance the “kikum” are now regulars in our yearly conventions. An example of passing on our cultural legacy to the next generation.
BNB has also been known to be winner of many awards in Belgium.
